Because I'm not independently wealthy, I have to hold a job. I work half time as a systems/network engineer at Golden Valley Electric Association. The rest of my time is spent running the dogs, photographing them and some of the sights we see on our excursions, and generally having a life. Some of my photos are online at my galleries at photozo.com and here at this website. Check out the sled dog and adventure photo galleries. Images are available for purchase - if you see something you like, let me know. I can make it available for purchase as a print, tshirt, mug, mouse pad or other novelty item (balloons, jigsaw puzzles, posters, trading cards, bedspreads, engraved crystal, etc) - pretty much anything you could want. Have a look at my online store. Some images are also available as note cards from Lead Dog Graphics.
Of course, I couldn't do nearly as much as I do without the support of my wife and partner, Maureen. She not only runs a team or two
of her own, helps clean up after and feed the dogs, but collects, spins and knits their undercoat into amazingly warm clothing.
She also works at the University of Alaska as a database administrator.
I am a former member of the Alaska Board of
Directors of the 1000 mile Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race,
which runs between Fairbanks, Alaska
and Whitehorse, Yukon
Territory. I served as the secretary in 1994-95, and
was President during the '96 and '97 races.
I also served on the Mush with PRIDE Board of Directors from 2000
to 2003, and was webmaster for the Two Rivers Dog Mushers Association 'til about 2006,
when I was elected president of TRDMA. I'm finishing up my second year, and plan to take at least a couple of years away
from any position of responsibility with any organization in order to work with the litter of puppies that was born
in October, 2007.
In the 2005-2006 season, I was the Musher Coordinator for the Norman Vaughan Serum '25 Run
(www.serumrun.org). I'm planning to take the puppies on the Run in 2010.
