About Loco Lobo

If I've photographed an event you've participated in (I was the guy with the cameras) and want to order merchandise: prints, t-shirts, mugs, mouse pads, etc, etc, etc, you'll find images from the event at my galleries at SmugMug. If you don't see it there, contact me – I archive all the images from the events I shoot, but don’t necessarily display all them.

Because I'm not independently wealthy, I still work a day job - half time as a systems/network engineer at Golden Valley Electric Association. The rest of my time is spent running the dogs, photographing them and some of the sights we see on our excursions, and generally having a life. A sampling of those images are online at my galleries at SmugMug and Photozo.com. You can order prints and other merchandise through SmugMug. Some images are also available as note cards from Lead Dog Graphics.

Of course, I couldn't do nearly as much as I do without the support of my wife and partner, Maureen. She not only runs a team or two of her own, helps clean up after and feed the dogs, but collects, spins and knits their undercoat into amazingly warm clothing. She also works at the University of Alaska as a database administrator.

I am a former member of the Alaska Board of Directors of the 1000 mile Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race, which runs between Fairbanks, Alaskaand Whitehorse, YukonTerritory. I served as the secretary in 1994-95, and was President during the '96 and '97 races. I also served on the Mush with PRIDE Board of Directors from 2000 to 2003, and was webmaster for the Two Rivers Dog Mushers Association 'til about 2006,when I was elected president of TRDMA.

In 2005 and again in 2006, I ran the Norman Vaughan Serum Run (www.serumrun.org), a 776 mile expedition which commemorates the relay of life-saving diphtheria serum from Nenana to Nome in 1925. I'm planning to take the team on the Run again in 2011.
